Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke reunited with their “Training Day” director, Antoine Fuqua, for a revival of the 1960 Western classic about frightened townsfolk hiring a band of outlaws to fend off a greedy land-grabber (Peter Sarsgaard).
THE QUEEN OF KATWE
In a fact-based tale, Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o plays an African woman whose young child (Madina Nalwanga) discovers she a budding chess champion. David Oyelowo plays the girl’s coach and Mira Nair (“Monsoon Wedding”) directs.
STORKS
Nicholas Stoller (“The Muppets”) wrote and co-directs an animated story about two storks (Andy Samberg and Katie Crown) in possession of a baby they have no one to deliver it to.
THE DRESSMAKER
Playing off the adage “you can’t go home again,” Kate Winslet portrays a worldly fashion designer who returns to her dirt-water town with potentially disastrous results. Judy Davis co-stars.
