Share how you ended up in this line of work.

After years of working in the software industry, I decided to quit my job and take time to be home and raise my two kids while my husband traveled for work. Although I had never done or even heard about it before, I decided then to try Pilates as my workout. I instantly fell in love with it,  as it kept me focused on each bodily movement in a way that would never have occurred to me in another exercise and it was actually fun. I quickly became addicted, so I decided to become certified and a master teacher. I ended up then opening the Sudbury location of Boston Body Pilates, which was founded by my trainer Zayna Gold.

What are two memories from your career that stick with you the most?

The day I started my first job as a software engineer and the day I opened my own Pilates studio.

What do you most like about your work? What do you like least?

Being able to make people's life better by doing what I am passionate about. Getting the feedback that I'm making a difference in their lives is the most rewarding part of my work. There is nothing I dislike about it, it's truly a passion.

What makes your business or profession unusual?

The fact that Pilates is an exercise that works for every person, professional athletes, young or old, rehabilitating from an injury, pre- or post-natal, any level of fitness. Everyone can benefit from it.

What advice do you have for someone who wants to open a business?

There are many sorts of advice that I could give. But most importantly have a passion for what your business will be. It's the foundation for everything else.
